How we can help

We offer gentle, tried- and- tested ideas, choices and stories drawn from the experiences of many parents from different cultures. We also describe calming, problem-solving skills for parents that have been developed by world-renown childcare specialists; also relevant and valuable findings from impeccable scientific and medical research.

Although our material is written primarily for parents, their babies and children, it is also invaluable for everyone involved in the life of a family – grandparents, family members and friendly neighbours.

These two Right from the Start books are also for use in the training and practice of Midwives, Health Visitors, and all other Perinatal and Early Years’ professionals. Most of the books are for use by Nursery and Primary Teachers.

The material is also designed for use in ‘Parenting Courses’ in Secondary Schools and Colleges. They provide an ideal simultaneous support system to the Roots of Empathy programme, now running in the Primary Schools of 24 countries. Roots of Empathy

Children begin learning how to be sensitive, slow-and- gentle and loving parents from the moment they are born. This learning process continues through childhood, adolescence, and beyond, depending upon the adults in their lives.

Frank Field MP, when commissioned by the British Prime Minister in 2010 to write the ‘Foundation Years’ Parliamentary Report’ said:

“During a research programme in Secondary Schools in Manchester and Birkenhead, I asked pupils what they most wished they could be learning in school.  The two things at the top of their wish list were:

  • How to be good parents, and…
  • How to develop the skills to make life-long friendships.”

Right from the Start believes that these two skills are inseparable.
